Author Bio:
Elliot Nash was born and bred in Brooklyn, NY. He is a graduate of City College of New York, where he studied economics. Nash came to his writing career later in life, shifting gears and reinventing himself at the age of forty. Fan-lore regarding the author’s whereabouts during that formative period in his writing career rivals that of J.D. Salinger.
What inspires you to write?
At first it was sheer desperation and loneliness. More recently, it’s just flights of imagination. Any similarities to individuals living in Delray Beach, Florida are purely coincidental.
Tell us about your writing process.
I always mean to use an outline. I start with a basic skeleton and I always intend to flesh it out, but once I start writing the characters won’t let me stop for that. I have spent a lot of time alone, so I’ve put in a lot of hours. I think that’s been my key to success.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I just start them off and then they write the dialogue themselves. Sometimes they get a little pissed off at what I make them wear, and then I hear about it.
What advice would you give other writers?
Don’t bother cleaning up your workspace. Dress nicely even though no one will see you all day.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I was very lucky; My best friend is an editor at a large publishing house.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
